Welcome to Motherhood 2.0

I'm Leslie, working mother of 2 boys with a 16 year age difference. Yep, you read right, 16 years apart. My boys are 18 and 2. I have a different spin on motherhood. I have the ability to see into the future. I know the things I did as a young mother produced a wonderful young man. This gives me a new found confidence as a mother raising my younger son. I can't say it is all smooth sailing. I have new challenges to face. I hope to share my experiences with you and I hope to learn new things from my readers as well.

Spelling

I have never been a very good speller. Thanks to Bill Gates, I never have to be. I also think many of my mommy brethren aren't either. For example, I was driving home from work yesterday and got behind a minivan that had the window decals that proudly displayed their childrens' names and the sports they played.  I'm a fan of bragging about your kids. It's one of our rights as moms and we should exercise that right every opportunity we get. So the window decals were not the issue.  The name under the volleyball was Schy. I stared at the name for a moment, my mind desperately trying to figure out what the name was.  It was like a puzzle.  Is it sky or shy, were there letters missing?  I'm still not sure.  I asked my husband last night and he wasn't sure either. So why? Why would you give your child the life long hassle of having to spell out their name to everyone. Just stop and think about all the times you give out your name. Booking a hair appointment, a doctor's appointment, applying for any type of service, the list goes on. Please don't give me the argument that they just wanted to be different because it's the "in" thing to spell your child's name differently. There are several spellings of lots of names depending on family origin. That I understand, but changing the y to two Es, I just don't get.  I guess that's why I have a Nick and an Alex, the Qs are silent.
